REID BOUCHER SELECTED TO AHL ALL-STAR CLASSIC
Jan 3, 2019Utica, N.Y. – Utica Comets forward Reid Boucher has been selected to represent the team at the 2019 Lexus AHL All-Star Classic presented by MGM Springfield, to be held January 27-28 in Springfield, Mass.
Boucher, 25, has earned 31 points (17 goals, 14 assists) in 25 games and will be making his second consecutive All-Star Game appearance for the Comets. Boucher’s 17 goals are tied for second-most in the AHL.
Each of the AHL’s four divisions will be represented by 12 players. Rosters were determined by committees of AHL coaches, and all 31 AHL teams are represented by at least one All-Star.
The 2019 rosters feature 35 first-time AHL All-Stars and 13 former first- or second-round draft choices. In addition, 26 of the All-Stars named have been recalled to the National Hockey League already this season.
Charlotte Checkers head coach Mike Vellucci, Syracuse Crunch head coach Benoit Groulx, Iowa Wild head coach Tim Army and San Jose Barracuda head coach Roy Sommer will serve as coaches for the event.
The 2019 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Jan. 27 (7 p.m. ET) will pit the All-Stars from the two Eastern Conference divisions against those from the two Western Conference divisions in seven skills events.
In the 2019 AHL All-Star Challenge on Jan. 28 (7 p.m. ET), the four teams will participate in a 3-on-3, round-robin tournament featuring six games of 10 minutes each. The two teams with the best records at the end of the round-robin will face off for the championship, a six-minute, 3-on-3 game.
Since debuting for Utica last season, Boucher has scored 42 goals and added 35 assists for 77 points over the course of 70 games played.
Prior to turning pro, Boucher spent two seasons with the United States National Team Development Program and two with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL. He was a fourth round (99th overall) draft pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2011.
