COMETS SHUTOUT IN DEFENSIVE DUEL
Mar 24, 2018Utica, N.Y. – The Utica Comets fell to the Syracuse Crunch by a score of 2-0 Saturday night at the Onondaga County War Memorial Arena.
Thatcher Demko and Crunch goalie Connor Ingram kept the game scoreless through the first two periods, stopping 20 and 17 shots respectively.
Mitchell Stephens broke the deadlock with 7:39 remaining in the third period. Gabriel Dumont and Dominik Masin had the assists. Erik Cernak scored the empty net goal with two seconds remaining to seal the win.
Demko finshed with 35 saves and his record falls to 22-12-6. Ingram stopped all 23 shots he faced. His record improves to 18-9-2. The Comets power play went 0-5, while the penalty kill did not allow a goal in four attempts.
The Comets return to the ice tomorrow night against the Binghamton Devils. Puck drop at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena is at 5:05 p.m. The game can be heard on 94.9 KROCK and viewed on AHL Live.
