Comets, Save of the Day Donate to For the Good
Dec 17, 2015Twinkling lights and the smell of pine spread holiday cheer in many living rooms throughout the month of December, but for Utica Comets player Blair Jones, his favorite Christmas memory came when he was five and received his first hockey net and street hockey equipment.
Understanding the special memories that are shared during the holiday season, the Rob Esche Save of the Day Foundation and Utica Comets players and staff adopted five families through ‘For the Good Inc.’ to ensure families in need had presents to open on Christmas morning.
With the Comets wives spending countless hours wrapping presents and filling three trucks full with presents, the families were nothing but gracious as Carter Bancks, Wacey Hamilton and Jones hand-delivered the presents to each family this past Monday.
“It was our pleasure to put smiles on the families faces and help brighten their holiday season,” Hamilton said.
For Whitney Hight, Jones’s girlfriend, her favorite part of the delivery was meeting the young boy she had wrapped all the presents for; her heart was warmed when she saw the smile on his face, along with the rest of his family, at For the Good, Inc.
For the Good, Inc. is a non-profit that works to benefit the Utica community. They provide low-income residents and their neighborhoods with programs to overcome poverty through their own means.
