Tonight’s Game: The Utica Comets square off against the Providence Bruins. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.

 

Last Game: It was a wild back and forth affair, but the Comets would fall 5-4 in a shootout at the hands of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center. Guillaume Brisebois, Jonah Gadjovich, Justin Bailey, and Reid Boucher were the goal scorers for Utica. Zane McIntyre made 33 saves in the loss.

 

Head-to-Head: This is the second matchup between the Comets and Bruins this season. Providence won the first contest 2-0 back on November 1. The Comets are 3-1-2-0 in the last five seasons on the road against the Bruins.

 

Scouting the Bruins: Providence comes in with a record of 15-7-1-2 and sits in first place in the Atlantic Division. They most recently beat the Binghamton Devils 6-2 last night. Jack Studnicka leads the offense with 21 points, followed by Paul Carey with 20 points. Max Legace is the top netminder with a 11-2-2 record, a 2.32 goals-against average, and a .921 save percentage.

 

Bear Hunter: Reid Boucher has played extremely well against the Bruins during his tenure in Utica. Boucher has five points (4-1-5) in five games against Providence as a member of the Comets. Overall this season, Boucher has 24 points (16-9-25) in 18 games.

 

Power Surge: Utica’s power play has been unstoppable lately. The Comets extended their power play goal streak to 10 games with a goal on the man advantage last night. They’ve gone 15-47 (31.9%) during that stretch. Additionally, the Comets have four games with more than one power play goals during that time span. Utica’s power play ranks fourth in the league at 22.5%.

 

Light It Up: The Comets have been scoring a ton lately. Utica has scored three goals or more in eight consecutive games. The Comets scored four or more goals in seven of those eight games as well. Overall, the Comets have scored 81 goals in 23 games this year.

 

Justin-Credible: Justin Bailey has been on fire lately. Bailey is riding a three-game point streak into tonight, picking up four points (3-1-4) in his last three games and five points (3-2-5) in his last five games. Overall, the forward has 14 points (7-7-14) in 23 games this year.
