Tonight’s Game: The Utica Comets battle the Hartford Wolf Pack for the final time this year. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

 

Last Game: The Comets managed to erase a 1-0 deficit halfway through the third but ultimately fell 2-1 to the Toronto Marlies Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center. Brendan Woods scored the lone goal for Utica. Aaron Thow recorded his first professional point with an assist. Michael Leighton stopped all 14 shots he faced before leaving the game in the second period with an injury. Marek Mazanec stopped five of seven shots in relief.

 

Head-to-Head: This is the final meeting between the Comets and Wolf Pack this season. Hartford leads the season series 2-0-0-1 and won the most recent contest 5-3 back on March 16. The Comets are 3-3-1-0 at Hartford over the last five years and have been outscored 14-10 through three games in the season series.

 

Scouting the Wolf Pack: Hartford comes in with a record of 28-33-7-3 and sits in last place in the Atlantic Division. They most recently/fell to the Springfield Thunderbirds 5-2 Wednesday night. Steven Fogarty leads the active roster with 48 points, followed by Ville Meskanen with 32 points. Brandon Halverson is the top active goaltender with a record of 7-7-3, a 3.06 goals-against average, and a .897 goals-against average.

 

Mr. 400: Reid Boucher has hit another career milestone. With an appearance in tonight’s game, Boucher will be playing in his 400th career professional game. 97 of those games have been with the Comets. The forward has 57 points (28-29-57) in 51 games this season.

 

Stepping Up: Brendan Woods is starting to find a nice groove on offense. Woods has two points (1-1-2) in his last three games, including the tying goal last night. Additionally, he is three assists shy of tying his career-high of 11. The forward has 14 points (6-8-14) in 48 games this year.

 

First of Many: Aaron Thow quickly acclimated himself to the pro game. With an assist last night, the rookie defenseman recorded his professional point. The young blue liner looked good in big minutes and on special teams as well. Thow tallied 52 points (15-37-52) in 144 games at Clarkson University.

 

Wolf Hunter: Look for Lukas Jasek to have a big game today. Jasek has played well against the Wolf Pack, registering three points (2-1-3) in three games. Playing Hartford might just be what he needs to break out of his scoring slump The rookie forward has 23 points (8-15-23) in 58 games this season.

Next Game: The Comets go right back at it tomorrow afternoon when they battle the Providence Bruins. Puck drop at the Dunkin Donuts Center is at 3:05 p.m. The game can be heard on 94.9 KROCK and viewed on AHLTV.
