Tonight’s Game: The Utica Comets faceoff against the Binghamton Devils. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.


Last Game: Adam Gaudette and Jonathan Dahlen recorded two-point nights and Kole Lind scored his first professional goal as the Comets topped the Syracuse Crunch 5-4 Wednesday night at the Adirondack Bank Center.

Tom Pyatt also scored for Utica and Ivan Kulbakov came up with 30 saves in the win.

 

Head-to-Head: This is the seventh time the Comets and Devils tangle this season. Binghamton leads the season series 4-2-0-0 and won the most recent contest 1-0 back on December 27. The Comets have been outscored 20-18 through six games this season.

 

Scouting the Devils: Binghamton comes in with a record of 19-20-4-0 and sits in fifth place in the North Division. They most recently fell to the Hershey Bears 1-0 in overtime Wednesday night. Marian Studenic and Brandon Gignac lead the offensive with 23 points. Cam Johnson is the leading netminder with a 6-8-1 record, a 3.69 goals-against average, and .872 save percentage.

 

Strong Season: Zack MacEwen’s outstanding season continues. MacEwen is on a three-game point streak, picking up four points (1-3-4). He also has tied his point total from last season (33) in 24 less games. MacEwen has already set a career best in goals (15) and is five points shy of his career high in assists. The forward has 33 points (15-18-33) in 42 games this season.

 

Breaking Through: Jonathan Dahlen has been on a role since ending his four-game pointless skid. Dahlen is riding a three-game point streak into tonight, recording four points (3-1-4), including a two-goal game Wednesday night against Syracuse. The rookie forward has 22 points (11-11-22) in 39 games this year.

 

Kool and the Gang: Ivan Kulbakov has had a fantastic start to 2019. Kulbakov has helped the Comets earn at least a point in five of their last six games, including a career-high 40 save performance back on January 6 against Cleveland. Kulbakov is 9-7-3 on the season with a 3.63 goals-against average and .889 save percentage.

 

Point Machine: Adam Gaudette has not played many games with the Comets this season, but he has been very effective when he is in the lineup. Gaudette has five points (3-2-5) in his last three games with the Comets. He has also recorded three multi-point games this year. The rookie forward has nine points (5-4-9) in eight games with Utica this season.
