CANUCKS RE-SIGN DEFENSEMAN EVAN MCENENY

Utica, NY - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has re-signed defenseman Evan McEneny to a two-year, two-way contract.

“Evan put up good numbers in his first full season on the Comets blue line in 2016-17,” said Benning. “He has the ability to play in all situations and we’re excited that he will continue to be in the fold for years to come.”

McEneny, 23, appeared in 64 games with Utica last season where he finished ranked second among defensemen in goals (8), fourth in assists (15) and third in points (23). He also made his NHL debut last season on February 25th versus San Jose totaling 15:08 TOI. In his first full season of professional hockey in 2015-16, McEneny ranked second among Kalamazoo Wings defensemen in scoring with 25 points (1-24-25) in 36 regular season games.

The 6-2, 223-pound native of Hamilton, Ontario, was signed as a free agent by Vancouver on September 13, 2012.
