Comets Add Chaput


Utica Comets Director of Hockey Operations, Pat Conacher, announced today that the team has signed forward Stefan Chaput (sha-POO) to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Chaput, 25, has played in one game for the Cornwall River Kings of the Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey, and did not record a point. He split the 2012-13 with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL, and the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. With the Bulldogs, he netted 17 points (5-12-17) in 48 games, and with the Nailers he scored nine points (3-6-9) in 15 games.

The Montreal, QC native has recorded 88 points (29-59-88) and 76 penalty minutes, in 212 American Hockey League games for the Albany River Rats, Charlotte Checkers, Syracuse Crunch, Providence Bruins, and Hamilton Bulldogs.

The 6-foot, 181-pound forward was drafted in the 5th round (153rd overall) by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
